The global sex trade has economic clout and a veneer of political legitimacy. Look no further than the recent emergence of the Australian Sex Party, which is ready to take on Family First for the moral high ground in the Senate. This debate between Melbourne academic and separatist feminist, Sheila Jeffries and Sex Party public officer, Robbie Swan was recorded at the recent Blue Mountains Music Festival by ABC Radio National program Big Ideas.
Sheila Jeffries has had a long standing opposition to the X rated film industry and here she tries every trick in the book to paint non violent erotica as the cause of many of the western world's major problems. Curiously, she fails to mention the third world or the Arab world or China's woes where pornography doesn't exist and where women's rights are as bad as they can be.
