COMEDIAN and Warringah Sex Party candidate Austen Tayshus remains unapologetic after admitting he gave a local resident a spray in a recent email exchange.

In correspondence obtained by The Manly Daily, the Rose Bay resident and election hopeful let fly at the local in relation to his stand-up comedy work.

``I have dealt with some f—-wit losers in my long career but you would have to take the cake,’’ Mr Tayshus wrote in the email.

The email’s recipient did not want to discuss the exchange when contacted by The Manly Daily.

But Mr Tayshus, who released the hit 1983 single Australiana, one of the highest-selling tracks in the nation’s history, stood by his comments yesterday, saying he did not believe his language was inappropriate for an election candidate.

``I’m not your standard candidate, I’m not sucking up to the people there,’’ he said.

``I’m here to nail Tony Abbott, I’m not Julia Gillard changing her personality every five minutes. I think if I call someone and they don’t get back to me, I’m completely within my rights to call him a f—-wit loser.’‘

Sex Party president and Senate candidate Fiona Patten said she did not believe Mr Tayshus’s colourful language reflected badly on the party, as he had not made the comment while presenting himself as a candidate.

``I don’t think anyone should be rude to anyone, however our party is not built on career politicians,’’ she said.

``No doubt we’re not going to act like politicians at all times.

``I believe our former prime minister Kevin Rudd may have used similar language ... I think all Australians do it from time to time.’‘

Should Austen Tayshus apologise? Comment below.

The Sex Party is campaigning for several Senate and Lower House seats in the upcoming Federal Election on a platform of constitutional reform, including calling for a national classification scheme for explicit adult material.

The party has announced it will direct its preferences to the Secular Party followed by the Democrats, with The Greens the first of the three largest parties it supports.
