A new Coalition of Cannabis Law Reform activists who are holding their third Rally in Melbourne this Sunday from 1 -5 pm in the Flagstaff Gardens.
One organiser Matt Riley said, “There’s a growing global awareness of the realities of cannabis and the total failure of the war on drugs. We need to have public debate and discussion about cannabis and all its many benefits and the harm that prohibition brings to society.”
“Everyone is invited to a day of peace and music in lovely surroundings. Our aim is to get cannabis law reform on the political agenda in line with so many other countries around the world.”
Michael Balderstone, President of the re-registered HEMP Party has made the journey down to Melbourne from Nimbin looking for candidates in Victoria to run in the next federal election. “Australia is behind the times and needs to start treating drug use as a health issue rather than criminal, as the Global Commission on Drugs said earlier this year. Just this week it was announced Swiss smokers will be allowed to grow four plants each, joining a growing list of countries mature enough to stop arresting personal cannabis users.”
As well as speakers there will be live music throughout the day, including Mr DNA and AOI (HIP HOP) JAHMAKN'IT'FUNKY (REGGAE ) , Jamal Moyle, "Armado" and Greg Fleet, one of Australia's best comedians.
