Volunteering is a contribution that is much greater than just the number of hours donated. By volunteering with the Australian Sex Party you are helping to further our message of 'your life, your choice'. You will be promoting individual freedom, civil liberty and furthering our goal of a more sensible Australia. This is so important!

Of course, being a Sex Party volunteer is also lots of fun! Our volunteers are spreading the word at events, online and on the election campaign trail.

To volunteer with the Sex Party you don't have to have a PhD in political Science or even be able name every Australian Prime Minister. We want volunteers who are passionate, enthusiastic and committed to the Sex Party policies.

At the moment we are counting down the days to the big one - the 2013 federal election! We are going to need all hands on deck in the lead up to, and on election day. Volunteering for the Sex Party during this election WILL make a difference to our result. The donation of your time WILL make a difference to the future direction of government.

We need volunteers ready to hit the ground and spread the word in the coming weeks.

If you believe in freedom of choice and support the Australian Sex Party’s policies then “get amongst it” and know that you’ll be making a difference!

Senator Harradine a Worthy but Deluded Opponent: Eros

HarradinePortrait

The Eros Association today paid tribute to the man they locked horns with more times than they cared to remember. Eros CEO Fiona Patten said that he was a formidable political opponent, driven by his religious convictions and a cultural mindset stuck in the 1950s. “From the late 1980s onward, he used his balance of power in the Senate to try and roll back the supernova of eroticism that was exploding all around him”, she said. “He knew how to work a government like nobody else and was always one step ahead of them in his efforts to ban pornography. But he did not understand that the technological revolution of the 1990s was the beginning of a new way of life and that pornography was an integral part of that life. Melbourne Movie Premier

NeuronstoNirvana

The Australian Sex Party is helping to bring the movie Neurons to Nirvana: Understanding Psychedelic Medicines to Melbourne. Following the movie, Fiona Patten will join other panelists to discuss issues raised in the film.

“The film looks into five currently illegal drugs and their therapeutic potential,” said Ms. Patten. “These are drugs that have been historically condemned despite having a therapeutic potential. It's only been in the past decade that this potential is being explored and we're seeing promising results elsewhere in the world.”

Neurons to Nirvana will screen at the Village Theaterette, State Library of Victoria on Tuesday the 29th and Wednesday the 30th of April. Sales from the event will help raise money for the Australian organisation, Psychedelic Research in Science and Medicine (PRISM). PRISM are looking to research the effects of treating post-traumatic stress disorder with MDMA. Studies overseas have proved very promising.
